Harnessing Nostalgia for Effective Social Media Marketing
15/06/2024LinkedIn has introduced Premium Company Pages
15/06/2024YouTube is experimenting with a new search feature, allowing select users to utilize Google Lens to find YouTube videos related to an image.
As illustrated in these example screenshots shared by 9 to 5 Google, users participating in the new test will notice a Google Lens icon located to the right of the Search bar within the YouTube app. Tapping on this icon will launch the Google Lens camera, allowing users to take a photo of any subject they wish to search.
As described by YouTube:
“Tap the Lens button to search what you see and receive relevant YouTube content as your search results. You’ll also be able to get more information about the visuals by clicking “Search on Google.”
So, why would this be beneficial?
While it may not differ significantly from regular Lens results, the ability to specifically search YouTube could offer more context. Searching for video clips based on an image rather than general web matches could be particularly useful for identifying objects. YouTube videos can provide visual explanations that enhance your understanding of what you’re looking at. Additionally, this feature could be valuable for tourists seeking information about landmarks and other specific locations.
The usefulness of this integration hinges on the accuracy and comprehensiveness of the results it delivers. If successful, it could unlock intriguing use cases.
Moreover, it offers a glimpse into the advancements of Google’s video image-matching technology, potentially revolutionizing discovery and contextual navigation moving forward.
As of now, this feature is limited to a small percentage of viewers who use YouTube on Android mobile devices, indicating it’s not widely available yet.
