01/09/2024After testing this feature with select channels over the past few months, YouTube is now rolling out QR codes for all channels, offering another tool to connect viewers with your content. These QR codes provide a simple scan-and-follow process, making promoting your channel and videos easier.

YouTube explains:
“To find your QR code, navigate to the “You” tab on the bottom of the menu of the YouTube app, tap the chip under your handle that says “Share Channel”, and then tap “QR code” in the menu that pops up to see your Channel’s QR code. You can then save it to your phone’s camera roll if you so choose, or pull it up to show someone nearby, so they can easily scan it to find your channel.”
This feature could be an easy way to increase your channel’s visibility and attract new subscribers. However, the effectiveness of QR codes remains uncertain.
While QR codes have been touted as a versatile solution for various purposes, they haven’t gained widespread use outside of specific contexts like supermarket checkouts. Yet, there may be a renewed interest in them. Instagram is currently testing updated QR codes in the form of profile cards, possibly indicating a shift in user behavior.
QR codes seem to cycle in and out of popularity, reappearing every few years before fading into obscurity when they don’t catch on. But this might be the right moment to give them another try. Regardless, it’s a functionality worth exploring to streamline connections and potentially attract more subscribers to your content.
It’s certainly worth experimenting with.
