The Strategic Role of the Communication Specialist in digital Public Relations
13/03/2021Internal communication is one of the most important elements in any business that determines its success. Internal communication is the messages that come from top to bottom, i.e. from management to employees, and the opposite, from bottom to top, i.e. from employees to management. The message is very important to reach the receiver with all the meaning given to it by the transmitter, and usually, the person responsible for this communication transfer is the Public Relations leader.
The Public Relations leader is the key that opens the door to communication, management, and employees. He is the observer of behavior, the one who hears and sees, and the specialist in human relations, so he automatically has a primary role when it comes to effective communication from within any company.
The role of the PR leader in order to have a more general picture to follow in strategy is to know and analyze the following:
-To listen to what management wants to say
-Know what employees want to hear
-What information needs to be passed and what are the problems encountered in passing or receiving information
Two of the most important systems for better internal communication of a company with its employees, and in which the PR leader plays a decisive role, are those concerning the written word or the spoken word.

In the written word: The company’s newspaper or magazine. This way shows a kind of immediacy (depending on the frequency of publication) since the employee can learn the news of the company or read articles from the management, opinions, etc. The most correct thing, in this case, is to give the opportunity to the employees as well write articles about their work, their expertise, etc. Leaflets are also an easy way to convey messages, as is a bulletin board, where it can act as a center for information about the business, employees, and management.
In the spoken word: with counseling groups and group sessions there is more direct and faster communication because the message is given to the receiver with all the relevant information he needs in terms of style, tone of voice, and emotion. Here there may be a beneficial discussion between sender and receiver and the message will evolve and better results will be achieved in terms of communication in the company.
Some of the key functions of the leader in terms of internal communication are the following:
Meetings with him and all employees to exchange views. The sessions with him and the other leaders – of small groups – for the best flow of various projects. Grievance, hiring, appraisal, or exit interviews. The press releases and any information concerning the intercom. The annual report of the employees and the so-called “staff book”. As well as any internal event concerning the business.
Undoubtedly, a large part of the internal communication of a business or an organization is due to the proper functions of a Public Relations Leader!
