WhatsApp Adds Passkey Access Providing Extra Security for Private Chats
19/10/2023Meta: Outlines Brand and User Safety Approaches with Mini-Site
25/10/2023In the last couple of months, Instagram has been testing another new sticker option, and this time with a photo cut-out process, that enables you to make stickers out of objects, animals, or people within your images.
As you can see in the above example, the new option will enable users to identify specific entities within their photos, and then easily cut and paste them in isolation, so they can then use them as stickers in their Stories or Reels.
More specifically, the new feature is more like Apple’s photo cut-out option that it added in iOS 16, which also enables users to isolate the subject of a photo, and then use it as a separate, sticker-like image in mail, messages, etc.
Thus, is not entirely a new idea or an original, to be honest, nothing on Meta ever really is, and also it could be handy to have the capacity to create stickers for use within the platform specifically.
In addition, Instagram chief Adam Mosseri says that users will be able to create stickers not only from their own photos in the camera roll but also from “eligible images you see on Instagram”.
Aside from custom stickers out of pictures, Instagram-parent Meta has also announced new AI-powered stickers that will let users generate personalized stickers for chats and stories. Also, Meta noted that the features use the Llama 2 language model and Emu image generation model, which transforms the text input into multiple stickers.
Currently, the feature is only available to selected English-speaking users on WhatsApp messaging platforms, Instagram and Facebook Stories. In contrast, on Instagram, the new sticker feature will also allow users to create polls in the comments section of their posts. Instagram’s new cut-out option is currently being tested with only selected users, but soon it will be available to everyone.
