Hootsuite Releases Social Platform Benchmark Data for Q2

Trying to understand your social media performance amidst constantly changing algorithms and shifting platform priorities?

This might be useful. Hootsuite recently released its Social Media Benchmarks report for Q2 2024, which analyzes 100 social media profiles across various market verticals, based on data from its user base.

The comprehensive report covers a range of industries and includes data on overall impressions, audience growth rates, engagement rates, and posting frequency.

In this case, the numbers represent averages over a 30-day period. To assess your Facebook Page performance, you can compare your 30-day statistics with these benchmarks.

It’s important to note that the sample size for each segment is relatively small, with only 100 profiles analyzed. However, this sample is still sufficient to offer a more targeted benchmark for your sector, based on average performance.

Hootsuite’s also included Instagram impression stats (again over 30 days):

The report also includes data on posting frequency for Facebook and Instagram, providing insights into how much content is being produced in each sector.

There are various factors that can influence these metrics, and there aren’t any definitive target performance numbers to aim for. However, as a comparative tool, these data points provide an overview of what you might expect and offer insight into the performance of other brands in your category and how they are achieving those results.

The types of posts you upload also play a crucial role, including the engagement level of your copy and whether you’re using video content. All of these factors are important considerations in shaping your social media performance.

However, the most critical factor is whether your social media activity is driving actual sales.

The key pitfall is focusing solely on engagement metrics to meet benchmark standards. Ultimately, if your efforts are boosting your bottom line, they’re benefiting your audience. However, if you want to gauge where other brands stand, this data can provide valuable context.
